The constituency, with 17 gram panchayats, is divided into two blocks and has more than 27% Muslim population. While the opposition BJP is confident about getting most votes in block 2, Trinamool has put in most efforts into block 1 which also has villages with significant Muslim population in Kendramari, Shashadabad and Mahammadpur.
