The ministry of social justice and empowerment has earmarked ₹500 crore – ₹ 100 crore per year – for the plan. So far, the government did not have a targeted approach for the welfare of transgenders and earmarked ₹10 crore every year for various schemes to be run by non-governmental organisations.
